Michael Grant, American amateur lutenist, reviews the LLD® 8c Renaissance lute

"I wanted to give you some feedback about the Le Luth >Doré® lutes and cases [Beginner and Advanced models] I have recently purchased. First, the cases are wonderful. They are strong, light, look good, I like the hygrometer and humidifier, and am not concerned about the storage space as there is plenty of space in the pegbox area of the case for string packets. Second, the strings are very nice and are the Aquila New Nylguts/wound basses I put on our rentals. Good strings! Third, the lutes, themselves are lovely. The finishes are very nice, and the lutes look better than some luthier-built lutes I have seen. Fourth, the tone sounds good. It is a little hard to tell right now since the strings are still new and won't stay in tune long enough for me to get more than a tiny bit of playing in. Maybe tomorrow or so, the strings will be more settled and I can actually play the lutes. From what I can tell of the tone, it is also better than some luthier built lutes I have played. Given the price, the tone is excellent! Fifth, I have had problems with the New Nylgut 0.45 chanterelles, they kept breaking, and I have discussed with Chris Henriksen, my string guy, changing over to a Nylon string for the chanterelle for the rentals as it will be more than twice as strong. So, my friend, you have produced some damn good lutes! They are lovely! Be proud of your achievement!!! You have done VERY well!!!"
