Firstly, they're a reality, because I just played one in Paris a few weeks ago; and forget any prejudice about Chinese cheap instruments made of paper… What we have here is a genuine historical lute of top quality, made of precious wood and with precise gesture by top luthiers; made of fine lines, with a soft touch etc. and it's very light as well ! It's not a simple study instrument made of cheap materials. Last but not least: it has a nice, solid sound and it's really easy to play.
